Drivetrain NGK Plugs, Correct Part #
NGK Plugs, Correct Part #
Does anybody know the current correct NGK spark plug part number for the colder heat range plug for folks with the pulley mod?
I've seen the number went to BKR7EIX, but NGK also makes a plug BKR7EIX-11. I believe the -11 is pregapped to .044, but I'm not sure if that is the only difference in the two. This is the single electrode one that may have replaced the 4 electrode R7EQUP that was on the JCW cars. What is the new JCW kits using?
Thanks for the help.

NGK Iridium std
I did a little searching and found;
NGK Iridium std. plug for MCS
Spark Plug Part No. Stock No. Plug Gap
Iridium IX ZFR6FIX-11 6441 .045
I didn't find a NGK Iridium IX ZFR7FIX-11, which would be a colder plug for pulleyed cars.
"So roland2003 (MINI 2 Sponsor GT Tuning), would you care to share the part number here on the forum?"
That was on the other forum and I guess he didn't care to share any information because he stated they provide a colder NGK Iridium plug with thier kit's but never answered the question.
The -11 means the plug is pregaped.

I have a brand new set of the JCW plugs sitting right here in front of me as I type this. They are NGK BKR7EQUP and the MINI part number on the box is:
12 12 0 031 708
The plugs have four electrodes just like the stock NGK plugs have (and they are rated at 100,000 mile maintenance interval just like the stock plugs). However, I believe that the plugs are custom made for MINI by NGK and so you can't get them anywhere except from MINI. I believe that they list for $35 per plug!

Yep, I've seen that the BKR6EQUP is the stock plug, and you can order them from Advanced Auto for $6.99 each, but go to a colder heat range with BKR7EQUP through dealer and pay $35 each. Doesn't make much sense.
My confusion was that Mini Madness was showing a picture of the NGK plugs advertised as the colder heat range plug for $59 for four, but someone ordered them and received the NGK #BKR7EIX as the new replacement plug for the colder heat range (I think the picture on the website is the BKR6EQUP). EIX is a single tip plug, not four electrodes, and comes in two versions BKR7EIX & BKR7EIX-11. The -11 means it comes pregapped at .044. The non -11 comes pregapped too, but at like .032 or .033. What I didn't know was which of these items were proper for a pullied MCS? In my research, I also see that Outmotoring offers colder plugs made by BERU with 4 electrodes, but are copper core I believe. What I thought was an easy decision, wasn't so easy. I would have just ordered the Denso's, but I couldn't find why they were backing out and not staying tight on some MCS. Mini Mania offers (colder) NGK single electrodes, I think the EIX model above, so I'll probably order from them or the BERU from Outmotoring if I even change them.
