I understand your concerns about the pulley being an issue on the mini. That thread really does go over all the info that has be generated by the "non dampener" pulley.

I too like reading the Engine building books, but they have to be read very carefully. I have yet to see a decent book that pertains to engines built anytime in the last 10 years with FI. There are some good honda specific ones, but nothing like the books on carbs, and V8's.

This brings me to the book that told you never to take off the balancer, most likly it was talking about the older V8's. I would agree and say don't do this either. But for newer built engines that use very high quality forged cranks, that are balanced with in 10-20 grams, this isn't really as big an issue. The harmonics that CAN be produced and transmitted to the crank pulley are going to be dampened by the belts and accessories.

The ALTA lightened crank pulley is an aftermarket part, that is designed to give you more HP. If the 5-10WHP gain from the pulley isn't worth the difference POSSIBLE SLIGHT engine wear, then the crank pulley isn't for you. This can also be said about the SC pulley, and that it produces more boost which in turn produces more engine wear, and looses the factory warranty. If these are huge concerns of yours, maybe the SC pulley isn't for you, and intakes and exhaust are the safe modifications.

In the end, only time will tell. After a couple of years of people running crank pulleys, this will show how this part isn't a concern.

I don't know if i totally understand correctly, Light weight crank pulley will make the car feels like 100lbs less weight and 2% just add more spin to the supercharger?

Wow, this looks like a great alternative!

FYI, my 99 Si's AC stayed on all the way to 8,200 rpm redline. I wish it turned off; great high end power, but 111lbft torque was just paralyzed by the AC.

Ciao,

Michael

The one listed on our website is just the lightened crank pulley...same diameter as the stock crank pulley.

Pulley

Alta is in the process of making the 2% pulley. I believe it will be ready in a month. Randy is testing one as of last week.

At one point, Alta was discussing other sizes as well. Anyone have any info around a 3% pulley?

4-5 weeks is correct. We will be making some 2,3, and 4%ers to test out. If anyone is interested in them call your dealer and get on their list! More info will follow regarding the 4% working 100%. We know it will fit, but i worry about belt vibration and it hitting the idler pulley.
