How to install Alta catch can in 2003 with alarm system???
Well here's a major problem.
If you have the Mini factory alarm system, you cannot install the catch can in the cowl because there's a little black box where the catch can would go.
It won't fit in the front where it will on the 2002 MINIs, so how exactly am I supposed to install this thing? Currently, it's back to stock. Just used the blue tubing I had to route the tubes back to their original placement.
I will say that the catch can does indeed work. I had it on my car for 10,000 miles since 10k. At 10k I did my pulley and when we took off the intercooler it and its boots were covered in oil. I'm at 20k now and when we took off the intercooler to move the catch can (it was installed in the front where the 2002 goes - we tried to make it fit there but it ended up breaking the grounding point on the engine after 10,000 miles, which the dealer charged me $268.00 to repair, and that kept the starter from working) there was no oil at all in the intercooler or its boots.
So, we couldn't move the catch can to the proper 2003 install position because of the MINI factory alarm system box. We had to change it back to stock again. The Alta techs are gone for the holiday.
Has anyone with the MINI factory alarm system installed the catch can in a 2003+ MINI?
