Hello! Looking for some input / experience on a JCW or other tune with the stock intake vs an aftermarket intake. Any significant benefit in the seat of the pants / aural pleasure aspect vs. the OEM? I've had mixed results in the past but I'm starting to look.

I've got a 2016 2 door hardtop JCW and a bit of experience with some different intakes.
Before the Dinan Elite tune, I purchased 3 intakes. The AFE, K&N and the Cravenspeed. The AFE and K&N were returned before installing as the quality was kinda poor. The Cravenspeed I installed, quality was decent, but I felt like the car lost a bit of low end power and heatsoak was an issue since the filter is completely open to the engine bay. Sound was fine, although hard to hear if you are listening to music. I ended up taking this one off the car after a week since I didn't like the way the car drove with it.
After the Dinan Elite, I stayed stock for about 2k miles until I started getting the itch. Now, for the past 500 miles, I've been running the Eventuri carbon fiber intake with functional hood scoop. Very pricey, but I wasn't going cheap on this car. My review of that piece is here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...op-review.html
First I put on a CAI (NM). Second I put on a NM Module. Third, I removed NM module and went with JCW tune. It does press you into the seats. For me, best move. Actually 2A dumped Dunlop runflats and went with Pirelli P-Zeros A/S.
I just installed Gruppe M on my F56 S with JCW tune/exhaust. Honestly, I didnt feel much different power. I added mainly for added soundtrack. =)
Fitment was spot on and looks beautiful as well.
Is that filter inlet open to the engine compartment? If so, the heated air it is pulling in will limit power increases as the temps will likely offset the airflow potential.
any non sealed intake will significantly increase IAT's and cause the DME to pull timing and boost aggressively (once IAT's start climbing) due to the factory tune running very lean. The JCW tune runs in the mid 13's for AFR so you have a little more wiggle room before detonation occurs.

it came with aluminum heat shield but it only covers the bottom of the intake, not the side.
