JB+ Giving me CEL

Good morning,

I got a JB+ recently, and when I put it on I get a CEL

P0102 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low.

The JB+ works because I feel it.

I removed the JB+, and the CEL clears out. Car goes back to normal/stock.

I lowered the % (from 100 to 50%) and the CEL still comes up. I removed the JB+ once again and the CEL clears. Car is back to normal.

Any idea what might be causing this? Should I leave the JB+ on the car for a week or so? I heard it can take a few days for the JB+ to adjust to the car?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
G

Defective device

Possible knockoffs, some were being sold as I recall

Often times these upgrades point out weaknesses in existing parts in the car causing sensors to trigger.

Where did you buy it? If new get support from seller?

If you can feel the difference then it has adapted to your car.

Cleaning Mass Airflow sensor is a good idea, buy proper spray at auto parts store. Potentially you need a new one.

I got it from a local guy in my MINI group. I trust him that’s it not a fake. Could be malfunctioned, he didn’t have any issues. I contacted Burgen Tuning about it waiting to hear from them to see if I can ship it to them to look at.

I have a 2013 MCS with 70K miles. In 4 days I’m having my 70K service done and mini service clinic done on it. I’m going remove the JB+ but have the code on when I go in to see what they say. And if my extended warranty covers the new MAF.

Curious what Burger says, as I have the same problem with our '13 MCS. The wiring seems loose where it goes into the connector on mine. I don't know if this is the cause (and it there a fix). I bought mine from a member here in the classifieds. I don't know the provenance beyond that.
It does make a difference for sure. I miss it!

Any updates on this? Same problem with my R57S N18. No CEL, but only shows on OBD2 scans.
I have a NM Power Module and NM cold air intake.
Removed the module, cleaned the MAF with Liqui Moly MAF cleaner, but error keeps showing up, at idle or when moving.
Haven't tried with the stock air filter back on.

Just to update on this. I sent my device to burger tuning and they fixed it for a very small fee. And when I got into back it worked and no CEL. So if anyone has issues like this send them an email. They were very helpful and didn’t hesitate to help me even though I did not buy the device from them.
