‘18 Cooper S Dinan Elite App problem

Just installed my elite into my ‘18 Clubman. For the life of me I can’t get a connection from the dinan iPhone app to the unit itself. I know the unit is there as I can connect with the dinan sport app. Have tried 3 different iPhones on 2 different versions of iOS. Anyone else seen this problem? I’d like to have this unit tuned before my armaspeed CAI shows up (if ECS can ever find it lol).

are you sure the Elite works with the app? I know it did with the Sport tuner but I don't know about the Elite. I never used an app with my Elite.

I’ve done a bunch of reading and supposedly it does. It’s mentioned on the Dian page itself. There are two apps. One for the sport and one for the elite. Or at least that’s the way I understand it. There’s even a YouTube of how to get it working. The dinan sport app connects to the unit but you can’t make changes which makes sense. The other app meant for the elite can’t even find the unit.

The Dynan app is super buggy (at least on android). I found it only worked reliably with a very old android release, my newer phones it would never find the device.

(I'm an android developer and sent them a note offering to help fix it gratis and never heard back).

What would you expect the app to do? It can't change stages because that would require additional car mods which they can't control if you have them or not. I read about this on one of the BMW forums with someone asking why they couldn't change modes. Basically they said that the Elite was running the equiv of race mode on the Sport unit.

From what I saw of the app it came out in 2015 and the Elite for the MINI was 2017 so not surprised it doesn't work. Although I did notice they make mention of it on the Elite product page. Odd !

ok that certainly helps. Maybe dinan could chime in if they are checking these forums. Be nice to get confirmation from them. I logged a support ticket on the web and called them but no contact from them to date. A bit disappointing in that respect. Car definitely has more get up though. My scanner won’t be here until Friday so I’ll be curious to see what the before and after stats are like. Yay for the bypass plug since the app doesn’t work.
