Drivetrain autocross/trackday head/cam/tune, sneed4speed heads?
autocross/trackday head/cam/tune, sneed4speed heads?
I might be in the market soon, for my 2005 R53.
It would be great to hit 8500 rpm on an autocross course, so I'm considering RMW, TR, and Sneed4speed. Car sees HPDE and some autocross, I mainly autocross in my d-street JCW though.
Sneed4speed is local so I could get head/cams/injectors and have them tune it too, maybe they have package discount I have not asked yet
anyone run their head? When going over 7000 rpm are the bottom ends on our engines needing any supporting work?

The factory bottom end will hold 7500 if its in good condition for auto x burst. Track cars should limit to 7000 on factory bottom and should run aftermarket oil coolers like ours. If you're planning to use the M45 supercharger you shouldn't turn past 8000. You could run either our race head or the sport head depending on budget, both will get you a nice power increase. If you go race head you can to the intake manifold to go with it and make even more power. We do offer package discounts on complete power packs installed and tuned here at the shop.
what is weak spot on bottom end? I Prefer to install all my own stuff, except for the tune
basically the car would be a FSP car at this point, not sure r53 can keep those civics honest but I dont autocross it often it's mostly a track car
maybe rod bolts and set limit to 8k but stay under 7000 on the track?

The pistons are the weakest link and after that the rods. The crank is extremely strong. Most of the stock engines that we see die from burnt pistons and/or oil starvation. If it stays oiled, oil cooled and tuned correctly they will live a while. We haven't seen any broken rod bolts yet.
