..Megan racing short throw shiter .i have an 06 mcs.ordered a megan racing short throw shifter for it.after spending all that time removing the oem i found out the megan is identical to oem .in fact bottom arm is 1 mm shorter than oem.making throw a bit longer.

Yes. No difference in throw.

 

Are you original owner? Is the shifter OEM or did someone already mod it? Just pointing out a possible scenario. Seems odd they would sell something like that.

If not then maybe it was shipped to them mislabeled ?

 

Certainly not a scam, I'm sure it was a mistake.

 

Definite bummer for OP, been there myself. So now checking part(s) for proper application / number before dismantling car has its benefits....

 

Where did you purchase the shifter from. A lot of sites selling that one, especially at a low price are selling fake megan racing shifters, not the real deal megan racing. I bought mine from ECS and it looks totally different from the ones listed as "megan racing" on ebay, amazon, etc....

I didn't take side by side pics but there was a significant difference in the length of the lower shaft on mine from stock.

I suspect you got caught with a knock off part labeled as the real deal.

 

Good point about the ebay buy. If you didn't buy it off a site like that I'd contact the dealer in which you got the part from or contact Megan directly to see what they say.

Was your packaging like this? Has megan racing all over it?

 

That's easy enough to copy. My shifter was definitely longer than the stocker was. I can't imagine they would all the sudden start making them shorter for no reason. I have yet to see a genuine megan racing shifter anywhere other than ecs and megan racing themselves. Did yours come with a shift ****? I'm pretty sure the 03 up short shifter all comes with the ****, if not I'd call knock off.

 

Maybe that one was returned as part of a refund transaction, seller never checked inside to make sure it was their part sent back, then re-sold it.

 

Very possible. We had people return things and on returns we inspect each one, so we seen different parts, no parts. etc

Hmmm, was the overall height shorter than the shifter already in the car? How positive are you that it was not an aftermarket shifter in the vehicle already? Did you purchase the car new?

 

Oem shifter.. i took pics and sent to megan tech.

 

Talked to megan racing today ,the tech told me they would issue a refund...thank you
