Breaking in required?

Guess who's motoring again....

My car has been out of commission for so long now, I had forgotten what she felt like...but now she's back, with ported and polished head, new cams (Thanks to M7), and soon new s/w to tie it all together...

Quick question...since this is a new head (not my old one ported and polished, but a new head p&ped) and there are new more aggressive cams on there...is there a break in period? I can feel that there's all this extra power that's just dying to be unleashed but I was told to hold off on going all out for at least 400miles...is that so?

Thanks...There's a strong possibility I'll be dynoing the car on Saturday (mostly to see the A/F ration, but I also want to see the numbers) but that might not be possible...especially if I have to put 400-500mi on it.

You can check with your mechanic but my understanding is that the most critical aspect of the initial break-in concerns the piston rings.
