I was just going to ask if you still like it. Sounds like the answer is yes. Thanks for the update

2000 mile update

Still pulling strong!

Now that burger has upgraded the jb4 I plan to purchase one for back to back review vs race chip ultimate. The weaker of the 2 will go on the wifes future f57.

3600 mile update

New observation car is very picky about octane and brand. Best performance has been on 93 pure gas purchased at a marina then shell vpower and sunoco.

The b46/48 engines only perform best using top tier gas, race chip just helps you notice the fact because using lower quality fuel the oem ecu dials back timing and boost.

True -- I've noticed better performance in "mid" mode since I started filling with Costco (top tier) vs whatever the dealer put in.

I'm thinking about this product, seems very promising, or the one from Dtuk for my F56 JCW, my coworker just bought one for his diesel BMW and loves it. Has the racechip caused any problems with the drive train? Seem to read now and again on these forums with burger tune as well as NM power module that if driven hard, may cause drivetrain faults. I'm planning on taking my car to VIR raceway next month but don't want to be driving hard and having faults start happening. Not sure if it's these new F56 minis or the power modules, but my tuned R56 from RMW never threw a code and I was running 21-22 pounds of boost in conjunction with a forge intercooler. Seems the racechip can take my JCW to 284 hp with 289 ftlbs of torque with the ultimate set up!!

Have yet to throw a code because of the race chip and it is set at max setting of s7. 284 hp and 289 tq will be the minimum the race chip will produce because it is measured using the default setting of s1, each step up from default is 1 to 1.5% gain over default setting of s1.

I'm also thinking of this for my JCW. Is anyone using it with a JCW?

For sure in europe.

If I did it all over again the jb4 beta with the new board upgrade and aluminum case would be in my car right now. Like the added features of the new board, boost gauge integrated with fuel gauge and switchable maps.love the performance, reliability and pnp aspect of the race chip but features always win.

I am thinking about getting a Race Chip F55Midnight what setting did your racechip come set with out of the box if you dont mind me asking?

I have chatted with Race Chip USA but they didnt seem as helpful as i would have liked. I emailed both them and Race Chip Germany and got conflicting answers in regards to

what setting is set out of the box, and was S7 the maximum power setting for the car, along with are the stated numbers on the website to the wheels or to the crank.

Your review has me thinking they might be worth giving a try to.

Also how many connections come off the harness they provide (NM For instance has 2 that are used for the TMap Sensor by the throttle body.

Thanks for any questions you can help me out with it.

F55Midnight

Thank you for your continuous review on the Race Chip. I have been following this thread and am considering getting one.

I have contacted Race Chip Germany and Race Chip USA with some questions but am getting conflicting answers between the two and wondered if you might be able to help me out with a few answers.

1. What setting was the Race Chip shipped with S7 or something else?

2. How many connections does the Race Chip Harness have and where do they plug in (NM-Engineering for instance has 2 connections that plug in at the Tmap Sensor next to the throttle body)

3. Any idea of the numbers that they state are to the crank or to the wheels?

4. Did they provide you with install instructions for your specific engine or was it something generic?

5. Have you done any launches from dead stop if so any new torque steer introduced with the additional power?

Seriously thank you for any help you can provide with this.

I can pipe in with one item. I purchased my RaceChip from Germany and Racechip USA is giving me a run around because I didn't buy from them. In fact Mr Midnight Black has been much more helpful than them.

Lol well at least its not just me. Seems like Germany may have better overall customer support which is interesting to say the least.

Have you already installed your race chip and if so how do you like it?

1. setting shipped from race chip germany was s1

2. 3 connections

3. power is at the crank

4. sent pdf to my email of complete install directions

5. Guessing mini manages torque steer with electronics because have not felt any torq steer
even with larger wheels.

Thank you that really helps out A LOT!

I dont understand why i get diffrent awnsers from Germany vs USA RaceChip. I would have assumed it should be the same.

I am now wondering if I should order from Germany instead as they seriously sound like they might be more on the ball.

Only reason i thought Race Chip USA would be a good fit is because i am in the US and might be easier to talk to someone on the phone.

I would try talking exclusively with Germany. I asked a very simple question to the US group and they've complicated the situation so badly it's incredible.

Me: Can I do this?
RCUSA: We don't see your order.
Me: I bought from Germany ..can you answer question?
RCUSA: Let me open a case for you.
Me: I don't need a case just a simple answer.
RCUSA: We're getting your order number from Germany to open a case for you.
vs
Me: Can I do this?
NAM: You bet - just do that and you're done!
