Their insurance got me a new '04 MCS and the gearbox hasn't felt quite as polished. Over a week ago the gearstick cable snapped and I was left stranded! You'd think when they upgrade something that they would actually improve on it… I'm stilll waiting for it.

Anyway would a high quality short shifter like the Pilo Racing offer more strength and reliability over the stock shifter and the problem that's bitten me?

well i think its becuase just like his intake, he designed and built the kit instead of sourcing it from other company, allowing us to source much cheaper aftermarket parts :D
having bought his intake and the ignition, i was very happy with both product, and can recommend his products particular at its cost.
however i haven't tried this 1 yet, so i got no idea how it performs

The Shifter cable is not changed, so it would not help fix that sort of problem.

Thanks

Regarding the Ebay Link. THat is only a 1" shortening as stated on the auction, where ours is a 1.5" shortening on the top, and a 1/4" extension on the bottom.

Thanks,
Dan

The pictures in the ebay auctions and on your site appear to be identical (same geometrical relationship between all the points) as well as identical construction. Are you claiming that your shifter has nothing to do with the Megan Racing shifter posted all over eBay? The Megan Racing shifter is described on their website with exactly the same wording as your shifter is on your website. Are you saying those are not the same item?

Andy,

What would be really interesting is to really track some of these things down to their original manufacturer. This looks like the Megan, I agree, but it would be interesting to 1)see who makes the Megan, because I don't think they make it, and 2)trace down other ones that look suspicious. No rip on Pilo, but sometimes it is amazing at how many of these items get rebadged to the point that no one even knows where they are made anymore. Who knows maybe it is some kid in Malaysia making them from scrap metal found in mine fields, sells them to a Korean company, who then sells it to a company like Megan, who then sells it to companies like Pilo.

It is like the PlayMini exhaust is made by a company in UK, Scorpion. I heard that this was really prevelant in the exhaust industry. There are a few Asian companies that are cranking out tons of different exhaust styles to fit different cars and then selling them to other companies that rebadge them as performance exhausts and they throw up some dyno numbers. I had a friend that had met people who do this. These companies are cranking out exhausts with no testing or design, just basic fitament issues. And gullible people are buying them thinking they are getting some great performance exhaust which has been built for their car with hours and hour of dyno proven numbers.

It is Megan...as well as the header and exhaust. He seems to have a very healthy profit margin.

I agree, I do like to have questions answered, and I know you have many questions to answer. It sometimes seems that you are asking q's just to ask them

Unlike other vendors, I add some things that are not included with this item as sold by other vendors. This is the reason for this margin. That and sometimes, I do need to make a bit of money on certain items, to make it worth for me to sell. My profit margin on the exhaust and header are no where near the percentage that I make on the SS kit, I know that those 2 items are great deals compared to anything else that other vendors have to offer. I stand by my pricing, and if any one wishes to buy some where else, that is fine with me.

Thanks
Dan

profit margin

I'm not pilo's customer and I'm actualy waiting on a helix ss kit. Pilo's shifter is priced low to benefit the consumer. If he can make a healthy margin then good for him, that is a winning situation for both the buyer and retailer. It's hard to make a living in retail, I'm a reatailer so I know it first hand. I don't see anything wrong with him making a good profit as long as the product is of good quality and he stands behind it 100%. May Pilo grow thru profitability, It's the american way. We all benefit from having so many vendors to choose product from.

Andy, thanx for been the consumer advocate here.
