Drivetrain Hesitation/Lazy revving. Timing off?
Hesitation/Lazy revving. Timing off?
Hey guys, I just put my motor back together and in the car. I had trouble at first with the timing, but after moving the chain two teeth it fires up fine now. The only problem is that it's extremely lazy to rev up at all.
It starts perfectly and revs up to about 3K fine albeit slightly lazily. I'm still getting a P0341 camshaft sensor code.
Would my car still run even if the timing was off by one tooth on the cam sprocket?
I'd really like to figure this out before going in and just trying to move it a tooth again and do all that work because my hands are already beat as it is.
Also getting two o2 sensor codes.
Thanks!

Your timing is off, do not move the timing around without pulling the valve cover and the oil pump to correctly set it
if you do move it too far by mistake you can cost yourself even more money.
It will run a link or two off but anymore than that you seriously risk bending valves...
Hope you get it sorted.

Sniper, I just changed my tensioner plug and guide rails and have the exact same issue. How I messed the timing up changing the tensioner and not when I replaced the head and cam boggles my mind.
The car is currently in the shop being timed. I'll report back if that solved it.

W11 is a non-interference motor unlike the higher compression W10.
Anyways, moved the chain three teeth back and it runs fine now. Looks like setting the timing using the arrows on the crankshaft and on the cam gear are incorrect. I believe if I used the timing gear holder tool I bought from WMW the timing would have been perfect from the start, but it's working now so that's all that matters.
