Drivetrain Cold Air Intake issue?

Cold Air Intake issue?
So I was looking under the hood to check oil and I noticed that the filter from my DDMWorks RIS CAI filter was off the notch and loose on the bottom of the closed system. It was unattached... It was a month ago when I last looked under the hood, just wanted to know what happened and why and what problems could've arisen with my car not having a filter for a while, thank you
