Drivetrain Mynes/ByteTroniK Remote tuning
With the TPR2 head, cam shaft and Sprintex, your engine is going to get a LOT more air; so for all that extra air, you'll need more fuel => bigger injectors.
In order for us to send you the base tune for the 550s, we need to have FA loaded on your ecu... so that needs to happen before all these parts go on. Once it's on, then we can get some logs from you and monitor the engine during your 'break-in' period for your Sprintex (and send revised tune to you to load into your ecu if certain parameters look out of wack). We will also be able to give you a heads up if there are any signs of hardware issues (such as air leaks or failing/failed sensors).
Not a problem, just happy that we caught it in time.

Finally Tuned
Ok, it was just before AMVIV when I had everything I needed to tune my MINI.
When I heard that Jay & George from ByteTronik/Mynes were going to AMVIV a meeting was set up. It wasn't even a good 2 minutes after meeting Jay and George they had already pointed a few things out that had to be taken care of. Within 10 minutes George had removed the intercooler, and fixed a vacuum leak without ever having driven the car. After a short drive J & G diagnosed that I needed to changed my fuel filter, which led to a bad fuel pump. Hell I thought my car was fine! After they installed the new pump J&G performed magic. I had no idea you could get this much power without working on the bottom end. It is a VERY different car. (It hauls @ss!!)
Mind you J&G did not have to fix my issues, but would not stop until everything was right. It was a lot of maintenance performed at no charge and I must say that I'm truly grateful. If anyone is second guessing the ByteTronik/Mynes Tune stop waisting time. It Is Awesome!!!
Thanks to Jay, George & Mike @ ByteTronik/Mynes (Very tenacious dedicated pros.)
Special thanks to Pat for providing the place/tools needed to complete the tune.
Honorary mention to Thumper Performance, OMG!!
BTW: A local blacked out/tricked out IS 250 bully tried his usual taunt. Well as I said earlier it's a VERY different car as he embarrassingly found out today. That felt good!!! I let him think he pulled away as usual then...

Oh yea! You R56 owners who haven't tuned your car are in luck.
I believe Jay's car is stock with the exception of the ByteTronik tune, but he can still keep up easily. (not racing) I'm pretty sure he can handle the GP II's. Jus sayin!

It has been some time since I have updated the going-ons with my Remote Tune from Mynes / ByteTroniK.
The tune has been complete for sometime now. I would say about 1500 miles have passed as my R53 is not my daily car. Lots of miles were racked up at this years MOTD and was an easy way to gauge improvements as I have been back to back for 5 years in the same car.
My AFR is still on the money both cruising and WOT, the Bosch 550s keep up with everything inside and out of the engine with very low injector duty cycles. This leaves me lots of room for a larger valve head and cam, or what ever I choose to do.
No running issues, no flat spots, great individual cylinder values. Spark plugs look great and even across the cylinders if you look for that kind of thing like the old school guys do at times.
Heck they guys took the time to touch up my tune long after it was completed due to me changing out a cat pipe. Every update was within 24 hours of me sending in logs via email and every question answered no matter how minor, even some fun back and forth about nothing car related
.
The engine was fantastic in the Mountains of North Carolina. The torque and mid-range improvements made for a bit less shifting up the mountain and the DCS improvements / adjustments kept the tires to the pavement without limiting speed.
I cant say enough good things. My experience has been fantastic with Mike, George, and Jay and they will have my business for as long as they let me
.
I would also like to thank everyone for keeping the thread civil. I know everyone likes to defend their opinions and desires and that is a healthy thing! Everyone has their brand be it soda, beer, or tuners

I've very interested in the ByteTroniK FA53-lite. I'm in the midwest, so finding a MINI "tuner" anywhere in my area is pretty much impossible....even MINI dealers are rare. My only option for a custom type tune for my car is a remote tune, and this looks like a great option. The only other option I've seen has been the WMW remote tune module....and I haven't really heard of many people that have used it.
Can someone give me some info on where I need to go to get more info on the FA53-lite setup? Also, when it's all said and done...what should I expect to spend for everything? Each time ByteTronik tweaks your tune while they are working to get the best tune for your car....does it cost you more every time?
Just looking for as much info as possible before I pull the trigger on this

Stance Mindset Wheels. They are 16 x8 et26
I see that you have a GPII, they don't make these wheels in a size 17.
Your larger brake system may not work with these rims. The R53 brake system is smaller
and the calipers just clear.

NOTE! Do not expect ByteTronik to get you the highest amount of HP from your car, because they do not work that way. What they will do is get you the most HP they can within a margin of safety. THEY WILL NOT PUT YOUR ENGINE AT RISK.

Hardware that you will need:
- FA-Lite Kit $450;
- CRM Service $300 (for one setup);
- Innovate AFR Kit $197 (#3844 Kit w/ the #3812 Serial patch cable).
You will have to fill a Pre-Tuning Checklist (as shown below) to make sure that your car is in sound mechanical condition ... and we'll go from there.
*Note: If you're using W/M kit, then that will requite TWO (2) CRM Sessions = one for no-water meth; the other one with W/M.
I had remote tunes as well as live tunes. they can do the same thing! I cannot thank them enough for the work that they have done. now to get the race car into actual competition on the track and see how "the coffee table" performs. coming soon.
Bumping this thread rather than starting new.
Recently I got the bug for yet more power... dont we all?
So I installed a Thumper TPR2R race head in the following spec.
Enlarged Intake and Exhaust ports
+1.8 mm Stainless Steel Intake Valves / Black Nitrate Coated
+2.3 mm Stainless Steel Exhaust Valves / Black Nitrate Coated
Single groove keepers
5-angle Performance Valve job-Intake and Exhaust
Crower Conical Performance Valve Spring package
Hardened Steel Spring Platforms
Reshaped combustion chamber
Also added an adjustable cam gear to my existing Shrick race cam.
Whats all that mean? Need a new tune
No waiting, just an email and a few logs away! No scheduling a dyno or waiting on a tuning party. That is a big advantage of a Custom Remote Tune from the teams of Mynes and Bytetronik!
As with any tune or retune you will need to pay for the service, but lets face it I already paid for the expensive stuff
But within 12 hours of getting the head on in my garage I had the ability to go out and run logs that I could inspect on my own. Less than a day after sending logs via email I had my 1st retune!
As a person who prides himself in great customer service, I feel like Mynes and Bytetronik treat me as I would treat my own customers.
Please feel free to PM me any questions you might have about my experience. While I do not work for Mynes or Bytetronik I happily tell others what they can expect

Unless something has changed, you have 3 options when getting a Head from Thmpr.
1. Outright purchase, buy the Head, pay the core charge. (sometimes this takes longer because he may not have a core to work off of.)
2. Buy the Head, send him a good core. (Yours, someone else's, doesn't matter as long as it's a good core)
3. Pull yours, send it to him to be done.
Just contact him and iron out which one would work best for you.

Hello there, I'm new to the site and wanted to introduce myself. I'm new to Mini's, but I've been a car enthusiast all of my life. I just picked up a 2003 R53, and I am in love with it. I bought it as a project car for myself and I wish I would've gotten one a Long time ago. The R53 is great, I runs excellent, when it runs. So I have some questions?? It has performance mods added to it. From what I can tell when I got it, it has a:
17% SC Pulley,
2% Damper Crank Pulley
DDWorks Intake
I don't believe it has a header from what I can tell, but the exhaust is not stock. The exhaust runs a straight pipe to one muffler on the left side of the car?? Not sure, sounds good though.
I'm also not sure if it has a Cam, seams like it does??
I've added and changed:
MSD Ignition
Brisk Plugs
8MM Wires
New fuel pump
New fuel filter
Alta intercooler Deflector
So my question is?? I'm having a problem from time to time with my EML light?? I randomly comes on. No specific time, just randomly, then I turn the car off and turn it back on and I'm fine??? Also my check engine light is on as well as my Traction light?? I want these problems to go away.. My car is also hesitant at times, like its "jerky"!!! I've done some reading and research and I feel as if I need a TUNE. I'm really leaning towards ByteTronics and Mynes?? Can anyone tell me if this is the way to go? Any information would help tremendously???? Thank You

Welcome to NAM Jerry Lee! Great little cars but they can be finicky. I plan on having a tune done by ByteTronick as soon as I can do one on site. Where do you live at? There may be a local shop that can help you. Let us know where you are and someone will chime in if they know of a good shop.
Sounds like you have a TriFecta of lights. Look in the forums, First Gen, Stock Problems and issues, search trifecta. This will probably help you out. You should also do a ECU reset. You should be able to find that under the R50/R53 area and in the Your ULTIMATE R53 newbie DIY thread.

Just for the heck of it, throw the stock coil and the jcw stock plugs in it (the old ones that came out were probably the correct plugs) . I seem to remember reading posts in the passed related to using aftermarket coils and plugs that cause a multiple cylinder misfire. Have you tried to pull codes from the ecu?
