Turbo now making a hissing sound

Ever since I installed the AccessPort Tuner, I get a hissing sound from my turbo (assumption here) whenever psi goes over zero on the boost gauge. When I shift and psi drops below zero then it stops.

Is this normal? I did not have this sound before the AP install. I find it annoying. It takes away from the throaty exhaust sounds at acceleration. Kids think its awesome.

Update:

I uninstalled the Stage 1 map and went to the stock map. Still get the same hiss. No matter what map I use, I am getting the hissing sound from the turbo. I am also getting a strange smell from the exhaust that I wasn't getting before. I am not getting an error codes, etc. Car runs great and runs strong. Love the AP. Just want to make sure that I'm not hurting something. Should a turbo hiss like that? Is that indicative of anything? Thanks!

Explain the 'hiss'?
Obviously, it's only occurring when the engine is under load (positive boost).

Time to physically check the intake system, the turbocharger, and the wastegate system.
You'll want to check for leaks, cracks or loose connections.

No it shouldn't; and it sounds like a standard air leak.
Inspect, tighten up everything and go from there.

Okay. Thanks so much. I will check all connections, etc. After that, I will probably need to take to dealership. Follow up question then: Since I am out of warranty, is there any reason to uninstall the Accessport and tune before taking it in?

Yeah, take the time to do such; it may present itself where you don't have to make a dealer visit.

I would uninstall it because the dealership typically does a test drive, if repairs are done, to verify the extent of repairs.
If they feel more power than they should or surging issues, they may inspect the car further to probe and determine the cause.

Saw this old thread and thought I would update the issue. The hose to my boost gauge was loose. Simple as that! Tighten up and all is well!
