Drivetrain DIY Clutch Stop
DIY Clutch Stop
I've been searching the forums for anyone that may have brought up the issue of clutch stops, and I have found none. Possibly the reason there is no clutch stop on the Mini is because the pedal travel is fairly short in comparison to other manual cars. But, if you're like me, you like there to be just about an inch or so of travel from the floor before the clutch engages.Years ago, I had the idea to stack up rubber grippers on the clutch stop of my E46 BMW and it worked out great. A few people in the forums doubted it would last very long. However, they ended up lasting for over 3 years, until I took them off myself prior to selling the car! So, the issue with the Mini is that there is only carpeting behind the pedal and I did not feel like removing any of it. So, I found these spiked/adhesive felt pads which work very well! Some people like the extra play, if you don't, give this a try! It's the best mod I've done for a couple of dollars.
