Turbo Inlet Pipe Cracked

Cracked through (under) the clamp at the turbo inlet. I'm guessing it won't cause a problem in the short term but eventually will start sucking air and dirt and that wouldn't be good, so I need to replace it.

My question is, what should I replace it with ? Should I go back with stock, pick up the Forge silicone pipe, or is the Alta aluminum one really worth the money? Or is there another option out there I'm not finding?

thanks!
Mike

I would say to go aftermarket. Silicone most likely won't "Split" anywhere and will look nicer. Performance gains, I cant really say. Maybe a larger pipe. I'd probably go with a nice aftermarket merely to look nice and give you that " I modded my car" satisfaction.

Worthless post I know.

Ha! I agree with you! But which one and does it matter? I like the Alta, but not the price!

I had the same problem about a year ago. Mine got really bad, and kept falling off and constantly stalled my Mini

Since the dealer wasn't a option(over 200 miles away), plus I needed my MINI the next day. I ended fixing it using 1-1/2" specialty pipe coupler, some blue rtv silicone, scissors, and some decent 3m electrical tape I got from my local hardware store. Cut and clean up the cracked inlet hose, apply rtv on the inlet and coupler and let the rtv cure overnight and hasn't broken yet to this day.

I agree the ALTA inlet price is high for just a nice hose.
I went with the AEM Intake on mine last month to replace my broken/fixed one since the price was right(~$265) plus it looked a lot better than mine. I also felt less ripped off because it came with a good amount of stuff for the price(Hard Pipe Inlet hose, Air box, turbo heat shield, AEM/K&N Dryflow Air filter, Air Filter gauge, and a adapter to make the hood scoop functional again)
