Hi all. I was wondering and doing some thinking these past couple days. I originally wanted the NM discharge and air charge pipes but lately I've really wanted a downpipe to add while I get my exhaust work done. Should I just not get the pipes and go with the downpipe or should I do both? Thanks for your future advice.

 

Downpipes add power, charge pipes add bling and no power.Pick up a Akrapovic downpipe and then add a tune.

 

Awesome thanks, I didn't want to waste money if that was the case. But with that downpipe will it sound good with a 2.5 straight pipe and no resonator and 2nd cat w/ magnaflow muffler?

 

I would add the Akrapovic DP first it will give you real power.

Then later do the discharge pipe with the intercooler as that labor will overlap. We do see improved throttle response with the discharge pipe.

 

Agree with Way (who I will be ordering an Akrapovic DP next month having just ordered a VIP DP back system). FMIC with hot pipe at the same time.

Your never too old;-) remember that. You might have virgin ears to noise but I understand that.

 

Exactly! you own a MINI therefore you can never be too old! lol but If you have the stock exhaust it shouldnt be too loud. I have a catless DP with my 2nd cat cut out on the JCW exhaust and I've literally gotten compliments at every dealership I've ever been to for having "the nicest sounding MINI they've heard". The choice is yours though, just offering my 2 cents

 

Or you could not buy an Akropovic and get say a Exhaust Depot pipe or another brand and get good quality at a fraction of the price.
