Since some are looking for a little more out of their intakes and the hot air intake vs stock and for the most part it looks like stock is better, has anyone tried 2 cut out the back of their air filter box? I was thinking if you cut the back bottom of the box with a k&n filter you would only be pulling in more air but not the hot air that travels over the engine. Just curious to see if anyone's tried this?
yeah, plus some would probably argue that it doesnt allow the system to be "pressurized". I see that come up alot in the stock vs. aftermarket intake battle
I am sure if that was more efficient and added power the stock box would have been designed that way.
I've ventured down this path in some drawings... theres not much space under the filter... you'd have to put in multiple 1" dia holes or so, and route them to the bulk head. They have to be flexible piping, such as an acordian hose (think shop vac) because the motor rocks under accel.
Also, the box would not have been designed this way... because you would audibly hear the stock diverter valve on boost release.... which they avoided with the design of this car.
