Valve Cover Breather Assy sliding out of NM CAI

I purchased a used NM Hi-Flow Induction Kit from a fellow MINI club member. I'm having some difficulty fitting (actually retaining) the valve cover breather into the silicone turbo inlet hose. I can wiggle and push the breather assembly into the silicone inlet, but it is so tight it slowly pushes it right back out. The diameter of the breather assembly is almost the OD of the silicone inlet.

The MINI is a 2007 MCS, early production. I have an email into NM, but thought I'd tap onto the collective wisdom of the group to see if I can get the car back and running a bit sooner.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Put a little anti-seize or vasiline on the threads. Should push in all the way with a little effort.

I guess the issue I'm having with it is keeping it seated...the assembly slowly backs out as there doesn't seem to be much retaining it.

I guess you can put a hose clamp on it assuming you are able to get it in up around the threads per your photo.
I wouldn't think you'd have to clamp it too tight. You don't want to bend or crack the plastic fitting.

Thanks Drsimmons. The NM instructions do not show the use of a clamp. I see you have a 2007 as well. Did your breather assembly slide right in and hold? I notice when I've tried to insert the assembly, the silicon bulges quite a bit.

Yes, the silicone did bulge quite abit. In fact, I didn't think I had it in all the way but it is. There is a little piece of plastic from the electric fitting(shown in your photo) that prevents it from going flush. I didn't use vaseline on the threads and was told that always helps. But, long story short, I forced it in and it has held, no slipping out.
Mine is an 07 as well.
Want to hear a good one. I put on a Forge BOV in place of my stock one. I was looking through some threads and found out I had the vacuum hoses backwards. It ran with no problem but I imagine my vacuum was screwed up a little. Surprised I didn't get some CEL code.
