Everyone,

I have done quite a bit of searching on products for the Mini, since I am looking to upgrade various parts. These are the best prices I have found and they appear to beat most sites.

Alta Pulley $159.95 ($10 cheaper) http://www.outmotoring.com/speed.html

Miltek Exhaust $630 ($65 cheaper) http://www.amdtechnikusa.com/minicoopers.asp

Denso Iridium K22 $47.96 ($17.04 cheaper) http://www.sparkplugs.com/results_cross.asp?pid=IK22

This is a savings of almost $100 combined off of these parts. Outmotoring seems to have some of the best prices, with the pulley being as low as $149 at one time. I have heard from some vendors that the sparkplugs are cheaper than what they can get them for. I have ordered from sparkplugs.com and the order has been very quick.

Does anyone else know of some really cheap places for the common performance upgrades.

Remember to factor in the shipping and handling cost! Usually, S/H is cheaper if all the items are shipped together.

Sometimes I find the additional S/H charges can mean higher final cost, even if it has a lower initial price.

Why does your 15% pulley require as shorter drive belt for $29.95 and the Alta Pulley will use the oem belt?

You can get away with running the stock belt - but we "recommend" that you use a shorter belt...nothing specific to our pulley, we just feel that with anything over ~10% reduction a shorter drive belt will help increase the belt life. You could just run your stock belt for now, and when it needs replacing use the shorter belt.

I'm using the original belt with my 15% pulley, but will be swapping it tomorrow for the slightly smaller NAPA version. Mine has been squealing at startup in the morning lately.

dgszweda1,

here's the cheapest prices I've found on those items...

IK22's ($5.75 shipping too, instead of $7.91) 10.99each (43.96)
http://store.yahoo.com/ltbmotorsport/index.html

Cheapest Alta parts (pulley $144, intake $235, oil catchcan $110)
http://www.jscspeed.com/mini/engine.htm

Sometimes you get just as good a deal supporting the vendors who are available for help with installation if you need it...and sometimes they include shipping in their price, really narrowing the savings.

But sometimes the shopping is part of the fun
Happy Modding!
