I'll be receiving my MCS sometime in the middle of this month and was wondering what mods would be
legal in Los Angeles. JCW sounds great, but quite costly.

K&N Typhoon Intakes, for both Cooper and Cooper S, are street legal in California. They have been tested and passed California Air Resources Board (CARB) tests.

Nitrous is out and there is a max opacity on window tints. Don't lower too much or you will rough up somebody's very precious politically correct and religiously inspired speed bumps.
When in doubt call your local CHP office.

 

The plasma booster by M7 is CARB approved and as far as tint goes the letter of the law is ANY tint other than factory is potentially illegal. Doesn't matter what percentage if they want to nit pick you.

 

How about pulleys?

 

Dinan is reportedly coming out with MCS upgrade mods. in the next month or so. Dinan upgrades will be California legal and warranty friendly. The cost is likely to be high though.
