If you are building a turbo r53, pretty safe to say build it..(any turbo on a r53 is custom, a should vary, based up the selected turbo, location....etc).
Lots of hard work ahead of you, like a stand alone engine computer...good luck!!

You might want to try contacting someone @ ABF, they might be able to help.

There are a large amount of people using the Stock manifold w/ no issues.

Zippy, you dont need a different comp when running a turbo set-up. A lot of tuners use the stock MINI ECU for tuning the car. Every thread you post in, you give false info, please stop.

I didn't.mean to post anything misleading...
early on folks tried to run r53 with turbo's....but the boost levels (some with a turbo, zero with sc) at idle caused issues....leading to twincharging as a way to continue using the stock computer.
granted, mini tuning has come a long way since then...tuners now havemuch more experance with more highly customized set-ups...I guess a bit of my info/knowledge is dated. Sorry again.

Why not have a FAB shop build one? Some longer runners and a more evenly distributed plennum would do wonders for the tritec if you ask me, and with a front mount I/C there is plenty of space!

And +1 for the STOCK ECU, do a good search for the best option.

No offense but doesn't sound like a true "fab" shop.

A "FAB" SHOP is a generaic name for a shop that builds single/or sometimes very low volume custom work....they general build ANYTHING for a price...usually mom+pop local types of places....fab= fabrication.

We have manifolds designed already that should meet the requirements of most turbos that will work well on a MINI. They have been fully flow tested and designed for maximum power output. Its a very nice piece. I'll take some better shot when I get in the shop. We have turbo manifolds too and pretty much every thing else to turbo a MINI.

Few examples here.

Here is a better shot. It's a little scratched up, it's been in use for almost 5 years on this car. Its on a daily pushing 300 WHP using a Garrett 2876 and a re-flashed stock ECU. We have tested data to modify this design to support up wards of 750 WHP. It's been lab tested, street tested and track tested. This is by far the best manifold available for turbo R53's.
