What did everyone else notice when you put the intake on yours?

I hear the whine of the turbo spooling up after about 3k with a heavy foot. Performance wise, probably won't notice anything. I'm waiting for a little decrease in MPG but that's ok by me knowing my baby gets some more fresh air through her

Worse gas mileage and a little loss of bottom end.

Probably because if it's not sealed you are inevitably sucking in hotter air than a sealed cold air feed like the standard mini or something like a DoS intake which gets a good feed supply.

Anything else usually sounds great but will probably find makes less power.

Even though the scoop is bringing in quite a bit of cooler air into the intake?

Oh well, I can't wait to hear how this thing sounds.

Nope, even with my Helix I lost 15mph on my top end. I put my stock box back on and a miracle happened my top speed was back.
The Alta does give you a great sound but it ads no additional power.

Cool air is in between hot air and cold air. Perhaps the op is most correct about it being cool.

I see a lot of mixed feedback on the ALTA CAI.

This is what I'm eyeing as my first mod purchase. I want to make the BOV more audible which is what lead me to wanting to make this purchase, but are sacrificing a lot in gas mileage and top end speed for a slight increase in BOV sound?

Cold air, warm air so much debate about this. The key to me is whether something improves your acceleration. After four years or more of posts, there is very little on anything other than it sounds better.

Think about a helix IC or a tune if you want to spend your money more wisely.

I asked Jan who but a tune on my 11' about what intake he recommended. He told me not to waste my money. He said he has never seen any improvements on the dyno and ussually a decrease. I would like more sound and the abilty to quite it up. DOS would be my choice but I do not want to go backwards in power. Jan said run the stock JCW box and just put a high flow filter in it. With his tune I hear a lot more exhaust and turbo noise.

yes I'm aware. I have a bypass valve.

Reading this thread and another, it seems the best route for me to take is with the DoS CAI. Expensive but I can see why it would be. It sounds great.

Right, which I quickly gathered. But it seems the DoS CAI is the only one that will give some added performance along with that sound. I kept on reading from users about other intakes and how they lose performance either in top end or in throttle or whatnot. It confused me at first as to why that applied to several popular CAIs but not so predominately claimed with the DoS CAI. But once I saw how the DoS CAI uses the space behind the firewall, it made sense to me.
