Drivetrain Anybody doing interesting work on the Heads for the Mini's ?
All,
I was wondering if anybody was doing true mechanical work-overs on the Heads. I have been searching the Net and I have not been able to find a Speed shop that would do High Performance work on MCS heads (i.e. Titanium Springs & Retainers and Sodium filled valves). Has anyone come across a shop that does this kind of work???? Or maybe you have done on your MCS that would like to share their experiences.
Cheers

There are several MINI owners that have done head work on their own.

The headwork was done by a local specialist who previously tuned Alfa Romeos. The ports were enlarged and polished and all that rough casting material was removed from around the valve guides, smoothing the airflow. Nothing other than polishing was done to the chambers so that we could retain compression ratios.

We are about 2 weeks out from the head install for our car. This hear has had over 25 hours of just testing and prototyping done on it. We are also working on larger valves that are being sized up right now. We will be producing a .5mm larger intake valve, and a 1mm larger exhaust valve. We are working with DPR Racing out of California, and we will be the sole distributor of the mini products from this alliance. DPR RAcing is in the front of Honda Development, and has been around for a super long time. We will be getting the flow bench testing done soon, and will be getting HP numbers once we install. We are also having work done on the supercharger that will bring it above the JCW specs even with a new lubricant on the supercharger rotors allowing for cooler operations and more HP at lower boost. Once done with all of these , we will be venturing into the Piston area. We are looking to get pistons made to match the clover shape of the head, and boost compression slightly. We are hoping for some major hp gains with the pistons and still be able to keep the car smog legal. If you want more information on what we are doing, please give me an e-mail at Mini@thepilo.com And we can discuss what ever you might need done.
Thanks,
Dan

This Lubricant is a coating that is being applied to the rotors of the supercharger This is a superlebricant that does not need to be reapplied, or refilled. Basically if you were to get this on your hands, you would not be able to wash it off, and would have to sand a layer off your hand to make it not slippery again.
