Drivetrain Intake only from the front cowl?
Intake only from the front cowl?
So the DDM intake for the Mini S only takes air from the front cowl? Would there be much of a performance gap between that one and the JCW (since the JCW takes from the cowl and hood scoop)?
I want an intake that is very VERY quiet, so that's why I'm thinking of the two. I just didn't know if you're selling yourself short with the DDM and only getting half the air.
Also, I wonder why not too many people mention the Dinan intake. It seems cheap, and I'm used to Dinan being such a respected name with BMW performance parts.

You could also look into getting a more free-flowing foam panel filter for your stock airbox. People generally want more noise, supercharger whine, and throttle response with intakes, any power gained is secondary. I am not sure how much of a gain if any there will be with the foam panel. It should be a great improvement in flow and efficiency, though. Plus you can wash and reuse the foam element.
If you can get a used (or new) Dinian intake, there are K&N filters that fit well....

I'm a big fan of the K&N filter. Most people that I'm acquainted with that race or have performance cars use K&N. These filters give long-term performance that doesn't degrade quickly. I'm using the Ultrik CAI from MiniMania, but as long as the CIA uses K&N, I don't think you will be disappointed. BTW: K&N filters are fairly quiet too.
I sell both and either one can be quiet. If you want to make the DDM intake quieter you can just leave the plastic divider/firewall panel in. That's where most of the noise comes into the passenger compartment. I've done this for a couple girls that were sensitive to noise but wanted power. The JCW intake isn't a bad choice, just cost a little more.
