Its tough to read, and very susceptible to breaking.
The one on Moss is ours (CravenSpeed), and we do not make it anymore. We have been tossing around the idea of a spring stalk for the R53, similar to the R56. I know they are not very popular, but they do address the issue of snaking through that down stem into the oil pan.
........ Craven needs to produce some more of theirs......
Yup....as these gen1 mini's age, the dipsticks are breaking...My local MINI guy keeps a few extra OEM ones in the closet to sell to folks....sounds like an lost chance to customize+Mod!!
I just replaced mine as a preventative measure.....and I would not mind spending more to replace it one time (Please make some more of the NLA Craven dipsticks Kellen )

The bottom where the shape changes tends to get floppy...to the point it is in danger of falling off into the oil pan...the fact it is hard to read, and not recycleable (easily like the metal ones) makes me wonder why mini went with a plastic hunk of junk..maybe it was 12 grams lighter, and .02 cents less or someting per unit!?
Be careful with after market dip sticks as I read a post (either NAM or Owners lounge) that the after market one the poster had was too high and didn't allow the hood to close properly.

Any thoughts?
If you build it I will buy one. Hardly worth gearing up production for just me, but I bet there is a demand especially as these cars get older.
Can I ask you why the other design you had was discontinued?
I'm on my third dipstick and I am very gentle.
The first broke and I was lucky enough to pull the broken part out.
The second I saw where a break was starting so I just replaced it.
Not to bad on the costs ($20) but a pain. I am in for a revised model that will last.
