Drawing for Camshaft Gear Holding tool

Does anyone have a drawing for the Camshaft Gear Holding tool or dimensions for a similar tool that will work?

Thanks!

Hi Mini SUV!

Well no one seems to have tool dimensions for the tool, but we did find some useful information on similar threads. We'll probably order the RMW street CAM when the wife isn't looking.

The tool isn't needed. I changed my cam with keeping the transmission in 6th gear. There was plenty of hold to remove and reinstall to the proper torque setting. If you need additional locking strength, just have someone sit in the car and push the brakes while you apply torque.

I had my own version of the cam locking tool made and realized I didn't need it at all. I figured I'd give it a try with the transmission in 6th first. It worked.

Thanks CRoth, I'll probably use the high gear method with a tie-wrap to keep the chain on the correct gear teeth. I was a little worried about keeping the cam gear in place during the swap procedure.

If you are worried about keeping the gears and/or chain lined up, you can always mark it with a paint marker. I keep a yellow one in my toolbox for that kind of stuff (especially when you want to maintain the timing with a distributor against the intake manifold of a small-block V8).
