Warning: Cravenspeed Dipsticks

took my 09 S in to have the latest greatest tensioner installed, also to check out an annoying hood rattle. Dealer discovered that the Cravenspeed dipstick I put in right after I bought the car in Nov 2008 (because I could not read the OEM DS) was causing the hood rattle: sure enough, the top is too tall for the R56 S hood, and actually rubbed off some of the paint where the contact point is. Good job, Cravenspeed!

So I put the OEM DS back in and voila! no rattle, no contact. So now I have 2 dipsticks for one car: the oem DS for motoring and the Cravenspeed for checking. Sheesh, never again.

Just FYI, my stock dips stick rubs on my hood.

It certainly did/does. At first I thought it was my M7 heatshield. I took off the heatshield and touched up the paint. At the end of the day it was rubbed again. I couldn't believe it!

I've got the Craven dipper on my '08 MCS and have no hood clearance issues. However, I did have a clearance problem with the m7 heat shield bolt. Solved it by putting a thinner washer under the bolt.
