Drivetrain itg replacement filter
itg replacement filter
hi guy just got a 2010 cooper s camden, just wondering if the itg replacement is worth a try? the car is new so i dont really want to mod it too much.. thanks
if its worth it how much power gains, is there significant improvements?

I just went for a K&N. They filter better and do not clog as quickly as paper. ITG claims similar performance as their filter is oiled.
If just an air cleaner element provided "significant" gains, do you think maybe the OEM might have recognized that? In any account, only at WOT at very high RPM does this become a factor at all. My 2 cents. Others mileage may vary.

The engine is basically an air pump. So anytime you improve flow you improve performance.
Most who have done so, also reported better mpg. I would say that it would be too costly for manufacturers to develope and produce air filters like K&N.
The cost of a car specific JCW paper filter for a 1st Gen MCS
is a good example.
And a majority of motoroists today, whether they drive a Honda or Toyota, have a hard enough time just getting their oil changes done on time, let alone cleaning and oiling a foam filter.....I would love to see the look on the average knuckle head motorist face when the salesman explains the features of their new car and air filter cleaning proceedures - lol.
I had a drop in K&N filter in my early modding stage, I like them. And have heard great things about ITg's Filters btw. Alta makes a really nice one as well, and the cleaning oiling of that filter was a piece of cake.

Gray, Yes, but remember on a turbo car, a lot of details needed on normally aspirated cars is taken care of when the turbo was calibrated. Boost was set with the assumptions of the stock inlet and exhaust system. When the engine performance is computer controlled, there are less gains to be had.
I sure do agree we are so accustomed to almost maintenance free cars the typical driver does not expect to do things like this. "Kids these days", if you'll pardon the over trodden expression don't remember the joy of cleaning a bug's oil bath filter, filing points, gapping plugs, and fiddling with mixture screws for every season. Believe me, I am not waxing nostalgically! Old MG's required you to oil the suspension every 500 miles. At least Morgan let you dump dirty engine oil all over the pillars with a foot button.

I fitted an ITG filter to my 2008 S the day I got it. I can't say there where any performance nor milage gains to be had.
I put it on because an oiled filter is going to catch dust way more efficiently than a paper element any day. Still need to check it every once and a while.
Had K&N on other cars before but just wanted the foam element to try it out.

I just check it every once and a while to make sure it's not clogging up with dust and crap.
It is very dusty where I live and I think the oiled filters are better at capturing the dust. So far the filter is ok.
ITG claim it should last years and then it should be replaced. I would have a go at using a K&N recharge kit first before I bought a replacement filter.
