Is it just me?

Looking for those who have installed the M7 intake. I just recently had this installed on my Mini. I do love the sound, but I feel like I lost a bit on the bottom end. Top end pulls nice and smooth but from 1k-2500 feels a bit weak. Anyone else or is it just me?

I just installed the similar DDM Works and feel the same way.....I might try resetting the ECU and see of it learns to drive better

It may just be the low end pulls like it always did, but as the revs increase, the benefits of a free flowing intake give you more power than before. You really only benefit as the RPMs increase with those improvements, assuming you had a clean filter in before.

I will give it some more time I guess, but I may end up selling it. I initially was going to go for the Dinan and am thinking maybe I shoud have. Anyone else?

After a few days, I feel the car has adapted and the DDM intake feels stronger earlier as compared to the aFe drop-in with the OE airbox......and the sound is SOOOO much better :D

No expectation of huge power gain, top end is a bit stronger as well where it would be expected to have an advantage over the OE airbox.

Theres some kind of loss of power. Try flooring it in neutral, it gasps for air and almost chokes. Maybe too much air and not enough spark / fuel?

That is what I was thinking, too much air. On initial acceleration it seems to be gasping for air and then finally catches up around 3500 rpms. Pulls nice once it does catch up, but most of my driving is around town so I like it to be sooner. I may switch it up and go with the Dinan but that wont be until the pulley upgrade.

I think burely is a bit closer. He is talking about a lack of transient enrichment, which our cars exhibit all the classic symptoms of at low RPMs. It's just a theory but I bet doing a hot air intake would remove a lot of that hesitation. I bet has been at least qualitatively examined in one of the threads on it.

Superstar, what you are talking about sounds more like the flat spots our cars can sometimes exhibit.

Nothing larger injectors, better plugs, and a 15% pulley cant fix

yeah, i think a pulley would solve it. not that it's really even a problem. NA cars actually lose power throughout the whole rpm range with intakes sometimes, at least this has a real gain at any point. but the gains will be more apparent with a pulley as the SC will need more air earlier and be able to use more air all over.
