Getting a QTP Electric Cutout

So i just bought a borla street exhaust for a great price from a user here. Anyways. Exhaust wasnt as loud as i thought -- it seems almost as quiet as my stock exhaust except it pops alot more. Im going to buy a QTP electric cutout, and get a section of my midpipe cut and replaced with the cutout. Im not going to do it before the cat because im not worried about getting the most power, i just want it to be loud :D - And also ill keep the section of the midpipe that is cut out just in case i want to sell the exhaust in the future and ill weld it back up.

220$ for a cutout. Sounds good to me. Ive only found a couple of threads about a cutout.

And i love how the MINI sounds without the exhaust, it drones a little but its not like im going to be driving with an open cutout forever. And i guess ill mount the switch in our switchbox - Is there anywhere I can buy OEM MINI switches so it doesnt look goofy?

I just saw the thread. This is an idea I have been toying with, but at over 150 I cant justify it.

Wasn't going to say anything but you did ask a second time Everyone has different tastes . I like my toys loud but in a good way. Jet boat, big block 454 open headers , 1972 k5 454 with exhaust cutouts , and my mini sets off car alarms . There is Mini that comes by the show with a electric cut out . Absolutely could not stand it . He eventually gave up on it as well and removed it . Its was loud for sure but with a terrible tone . There are more than one kind of loud as strange as it sounds but thats the way it was in this particular case. But to each there own and perhaps you will enjoy it .

Yeah we spoke about this before randy, the MINI's tone is definetly not "Great". It sounds much better than honda's and alot less ricey. But thats the reason why i want an electronic cutout rather than a straight piped exhaust.

I was parked next to a 1969 440 Road Runner at a show last night with electric cut outs . Now THAT sounded good . Have fun with the experiment that is what mods are all about

I too wondered what the Mini would sound like without the rear muffler. Is is easy to remove just the muffler to see what it sounds like before spending $250 on something that may sound crap?

I don't know about the 1st Gen, but this 2nd gen sounds poo idling! Like it's a sewer pipe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tj2NJmBzW20
Needs a resonator or something to get rid of the "pipe" sound.

To me, the only way to improve overall sound is to pick an exhaust that sounds good up front. The Invidia exhaust I have is not overly loud but can be distinctly heard. It has a very sporty tone to it. The '05 and '06 MCS models make it sound even better since the ECU is tuned to create a backpressure sound when letting off the throttle.
