15% or 17% reduction pully?

my mini just hit 99,000 miles and ive commited to doing a pully reduction...i want the 17% because i want more power..but the 15% seems like it would put less stress on my car...ive got a cai,one ball mod,DT tuned bypass valve, screamin demon coil pack, one step colder plugs(not installed yet)and a obx header on the way....

what do you guys think? 15 or 17%....will there be more risk in something breaking if i do the 17%

Don't think so. I've got an 04 Mini with over 80k on it, and had the 17% put on almost right away. If you want some good power without harming the car, the 17 will serve you well.

There are a million threads on this...make the descesion simple...if you track the car, and spend lots of time at or near redline, get the 15%....if you drive on the street, get the 17% IMO.
One thing to remember...to get the best power with the 17%, 93 octane gas is a big help...if you live in a local with crappy gas, like CA, the 15% might be a better option.

Since I couldn't make up my mind, I split the difference and went with the M7 16%.

You will love it...the 17% is awsome on the street, and the little bit of hesitation with the ac on goes away too!!
A few recomendations....go to a cooler spark plug..the same as the jcw's, and get a shorter belt...a Detroit Tuned tenssioner stop is good INS too, for any mini, especially a pulley equipped one!!

Sounds like you already set your mind for the 17%, go with it or you'll always wonder.
Order our WMW pulley, and since your in flordia you'll get it super fast.

If you get the wmw kit it has it all... The cooler sparkplugs, and the tesioner stop too.
If you can borrow a belt tennsioner from another mini owner or local club, it is almost a requirment...they are sold at a few sites, and sometimes pop up on eBay. A tourque wrench is also needed to properly install the pulley...and to put the plugs in correctly so they don't loosen...that and a free afternoon, and the directions!! Everything else is pretty standard...a few sockets, etc. A floor jack and a block of wood is needed too if I remember right....there are a few diy's around...or check with a local club, they may have a pulley party scheduled, where you do a few cars production line style, or a member that will help you out for a 6 pack....
