Because the Alta intake "utilize the airflow from the windshield cowl vent," is there a problem with moisture coming into the intake system during rain? Could this be a potential problem?

I've had my alta intake for 7500 miles and some very severe rain storms, driven the car in sever rain and somewhat floded roads without a problem or hicup. I experienced increased fuel effiency and a freer reving engine from installing the alta. I'm very stisfied with the quality and results, I would recomended to a friend. Hope that helps.
Happy motoring,

I have the Alta intake with no problems. Have driven in rain but not major down pour. They say it makes 5-9 hp and I believe it.

Great to hear that there's no problem! I'll be adding the Alta intake to my JCW when I get my car in January.

I wonder how many hp can the intake contribute in addition to the 200hp from JCW kit. Any idea?

don't know, but i feel that it makes a difference that you can feel. i had the alta intake, milltek header and nology wires installed at the same as the jcw at the dealer. unknowingly, i drove off the dealer lot with the alta intake receiving little air, as the techs forgot to remove the plastic divider that allows the air to flow from the cowl into the intake.

despite this, i was still quite impressed with the whole package from the initial acceleration. but i did notice that there was very little noise with throttle. that is, a whole lot less exhaust/intake/supercharger noise. i knew from reviews and randy that the jcw exhaust is quiet. but it seemed just as, if not, more quiet than stock.

not until the next day did i pop the bonnet and check the install. and then i saw the divider still separating the intake from the cowl space. after removing the divider, the noise was very pleasing. a bit more exhaust noise, as well as a whole lot more supercharger noise with throttle. and i felt a bit more hp that you can feel.

Definitely no problem with the rain. I just added the Alta kit to my 04 MCS w/JCW. The next morning it rained like crazy in Atlanta (2 inches every hour). No problems on the filter. Ran like a champ. Besides, the filter is covered in oil which will keep any water moisture at bay.

Definitely a lot louder, but it's worth every deceble of noise. The thing flies!
