Detailed question about tuning.

Hi all,

I don't race, but I drive pretty aggressively and do a lot of recreational fast driving. I was looking into the M7 Velocity dealie or the Sprintbooster to simply make the car a bit more "responsive"; but then I started to read many posts about how a good tune is a better option, and that the throttle boosters are way over-priced.

I would definitely like faster throttle response -- not absurdly fast, but just a bit more responsive then the MINI Sport mode. And if a tune can improve other elements of the engine (i.e. running smoother) without negatively affecting MPG then I'd be into that as well. I don't need or want more HP at this point.

So with those things in mind, what is the best option; and if it's a tune or custom tune then how/where do I go about it?

Thanks!

you need a tune from Jan aka RMW. you will get all of the things you mentioned. I have had his tune for over a year and I hardly use the sport button because I don't need it, and when I do all I can say hold on the the wheel.

keep a lookout on the forums for when he is in a town near you. He also has a remote tuning device now that might be an option for you.

I see him mentioned here a lot on the threads...I'm definitely interested! Does he have a website I can take a gander at?

Mynes Performance is also located in southern cal (Lake Forrest, CA) and would be another good choice -- I watched him tune MINIs recently and was very impressed.
