QUESTION: Random Oil Light appears?

I notice that sometimes when I turn my car on, like 1 in 6 times that the oil light appears. And when I press on the gas a bit so the engine slightly revs, the light disappears.

Does anyone know what might be wrong? Or if that's a normal occurance? Thanks

Sounds like a definite pressure problem. This seems to happen often after the oil is changed and the filter is installed incorrectly.

+1

I had the same symptoms before.

Check the filter and filter housing to make sure it's installed correctly and make there is no components missing i.e. the little springs in the filter housing.

If that doesnt fix it, could be a sensor in the Filter housing which is bolted to the block. #8.

#08 OIL PRESSURE SWITCH PART NO. 112617513068 $12.08

I was under the impression that if a sensor was faulty, the whole unit had to be replaced, hopefully that's not the case though.

NO that is not normal. First thing I'd check is to make sure you have an OEM filter in there. If you pull off the cap, you won't have the plastic center on the cap like the picture above, only the Cooper non S has the plastic part.
