If you decide to go with the DoS CAI, I'd actually recommend the JCW turbo inlet tube/pipe. Its design features nice smooth walls (a dramatic improvement from the corrugated tube on the standard R56 'S') and a small flex section that helps to cushion the DoS CAI when the engine moves under acceleration.

I recently purchased the m7 super ags cai intake and I believe it to be the best out there. Sure it cost almost $500 installed but the surface area is huge and the air box is huge as well. I get crazy pull at around 3000rpms and above and the suction sound is crazy. You can really hear it opening and closing during high speeds. I also have the forge DV added onto the stock bov and it sounds great. The install was a pain in the *** but you don't have to cut any holes like the DoS that some of you are talking about. One thing I dont like about it is that it's big...I used to have a 2002 VW GTI 1.8T with a cone style CAI and I didn't like it every much. The turbo lag was nuts and so far I have not experienced any turbo lag from the Super AGS even when it's 90 degrees outside. From experience, Peter is right, their intake can out flow any CAI in the market. IMHO.

Dunphyj excellent write up. I recently went with went with all the NM Engineering products over ALTA due to "issues" other NAM members have mentioned here in the recent past. Here is my short review of the NM Engineering intake that was recently installed on my JCW:
