FU pully

So I did all the research searched the forums and now i believe my car in fact hates me. I'm trying to install my new 15% pulley but but my old pulley is choosing to fight me every step of the way. here is a small list of things I have done.

Alta pulley removal tool, now broken
Crows feet puller, broken
Heat. nothing

I even cut a relief in the pulley and hit it with a cold chisel still nothing.

If I cut this thing off will it finally submit to my wish like a good girl or should I remove the Supercharger throw it in the road give it the finger and then take it to a shop. Mind you I am the most relaxed guy in the world but this has put me in a 24 hour no touch the car or I will light it on fire and take the insurance money frustration. Thanks for your help.

wow ; sorry to hear you broke your pullers. you put the heat to the pulley and not the shaft i asume. some in the past have had same issue and went ahead and cut it off . looks like you gotta do it . sorry for your trouble

make sure you didn't move the shaft of the supercharger ! ( it does happen, and usually ends with either your belt flying away or a broken supercharger )

I let my engine get up to operating temp before removing my pulley, slid off like butter, just a tip for anyone doing this.

I broke a Harbor Freight Crows Foot Puller myself. I returned that broken junk, and went straight to Sears and bought a Craftsman puller. It worked brilliantly and was just about $5 more.

That is because 99% of them are. I have done 20 or so pullies and out of all of them only one was a pain in the backside. I ended up cutting it off.

These tips won’t help the OP, but for the next person who may do a search before attempting the install, lubrication helps, lube the extractor bolt threads with a moly or graphite lube, and lube the tip. Use a long handled ratchet or breaker bar, leverage is important, if there is a sticking point, strike the end of the extractor bolt with a hammer, apply more tension and strike again, this should fee it up. Because a portion of the frame may block the extractor bolt from getting a hammer behind it, place a rod or long bolt against the extractor bolt head and use that to strike against. You don’t have to whack it hard, but a firm strike will do.

DAY 3 Review

Hands down best mod to do. Somethings I do recommend is up grading the your ignition system. Cold plugs, new wires, new coil, and for piece of mind I also installed the ALTA belt tensioner stop. Im very happy with everything this car feels alive now. And making 11's is wicked easy.

Glad it finally worked out for you. This is a bind I've seen several customers get into, and always I just recommend they have it professionally done. It really counts to know how to do it, we've done over 300+ pulley installs and NEVER cut or heated one up.

RIGHT ON! Glad everything worked out in the end! I hate it when any project goes awry! Makes the whole car seem like a problem.

If I can ever help in the future, please let me know!

Thanks again for choosing ALTA!
