Riss Racing Catted DP=Code 0420

My blissfull days, about 1.5 days and 31.0 miles ended with a P0420 code.
The scan gauge also provided this other info:
PID03: Loop is open
PID04: LOD=20
PID05: WT=218
PID0B: MAP PSI = 7.9
PID0C: RPM = 2997
PID0D: MPH = 27
PID0E: IGN = 44
PID0F: IAT = 91 F
PID10: GPH = 0.32
PID11: TPS = 19

Called gave the info to Riss Racing. Let's see what happens. Don't want to be clearing codes every other day. SH_T

Let's see if NITRO throws the same code. Maybe I just got a bad cat.

Cheers!

How many of these headers were sold already and are already throwing a code ? It is fairly understandable since its a product still in production and etc but should we go onto a full war on this and have this thread closed ? I do not think so. Let's see if any other people that usually respond to header code issues reply to this thread and approach it the same way. Anyway, I am sure it's a easy fix.

Gluck.

From the Riss group buy thread, for just the NAM mail order community,

Catless: 11 bought, 5 shipped
Catted: 5 bought, 2 shipped

Stinkytofu, you have a catless so it is not the same. You are supposed to get a CEL.

But 1 out of 2 is too low counts to say much yet. I guess N1tro is the other one with the catted installed.

Coouuper S, no war here but the fix may not be easy.

I've had both p0420 (emissions) and p0141 (cat not at efficiency it only shows up after install of spacer) with my ALTA DP. Lets hope the O2 sim is successful so we can be freed from this CEL.

When I spoke with Riss Racing they said they would get back to me. They have run into a delay with the O2 sim due to the complexities of the Mini ECU (no surprise here).

N1tro still hasn't thrown a code, so let's not rush to judgement and see how Riss Racing progresses with the O2 sim.

I cleared the code and put about 20 miles on the car and it hasn't come back yet.

Will keep everyone up to speed.

Cheers!

Don't forget they also committed to providing the first group of *Catted* DP buyers free sims (when they come out) if your catted DP throws codes. so in the end, there is nothing to worry about here in my opinion. be patient and don't rush to judgement.

Great news. Being patient is the key esp if you are putting after market parts on your car. I am sure they will take care of the problems.

either buy the scanguage, or if you live near an auto parts store just go there and ask them to clear your code

fo sho!

just go in and tell them you want to check your check engine light code, then they will get their scan tool and you plug it into your car, and just ask them to clear it for you (i would suggest to go pepboys or advanced auto) autozone was kinda **** about clearing my code

The BLOODY CODE IS BACK. Any idea if this code will affect my tune. HOPE NOT.

Any thoughts on how this might be resolved before RR releases a O2 sim?

Very frustrated! It's easy enough to clear but that isn't the point. So far N1tro hasn't thrown a code, so good news for him.

Question is did I get a faulty cat in my DP?

Cheers!

1st get an obd reader off of ebay for like $60 and it will pay for itself the first time you use considering the dealership will charge you ove a $100 to check it.
2nd If it is the generic cataylst below threshhold you can get a spark plug fowler and it will set the o2 sensor a little bit a way form the pipe and that should help. My Spec V had the same problem when I put a header in cause it eliminated a cat. Or you can look up an o2 senor dummy but they are pretty hard to find.

I think Boomer & I are the only 2 currently running the Catted (and coated) RR downpipes at the moment. Just to keep this from turning into a me-to thread w/ the Alta DP users.
No faults yet, 4 days, but I haven't had a chance to get out on the freeway which is where my Alta DP first tripped the p0420. I've got my fingers crossed still.

I really don't want to have to put in a O2 sim to fix a problem like this. I don't remember the demo vehicle having any issues. I hope this stuff gets worked out before they start shipping more Catted downpipes.
