Did ya see the Helix group buy thread? $580. Coindentally same price as Alta recently marked down to

Unless you have not opened the box it looks like the cast is set. From what I understand returning merchandise to these guys is beyond a PITA

Since you have to take the bumper off I would recommend to put some blue painters tape on the bumper to ensure you dont scratch it while handling it!

Forgot to mention. The Cold Side Boost tube IS a PITA! But having seen them replaced at the local dealer, the car is to blame not the ALTA part. You gotta have little hands to get back in there. I have no issue with the installation being marked as difficult, but lets blame the right party (MINI )

Back to the FMIC, I assume you got it on this weekend? How did things go? Never hesitate to call ALTA_Chris, or ADAMSALTAMINI online or phone to get some tech ?'s answered. Thanks again for the business!

I got to chime in on this one. This guy sounds like a politician or a car salesman. Oh you were a car salesman. If I were you I wouldn't be so quick pass the buck on Mini design. Granted getting the stock cold side tube off is a pain, but not half as bad as trying to stretch a ALta tube on that is too short. How hard is it to measure the right length and make a product accordingly. Or even better yet before you give your 2 cents how about you go install some of your products on a Mini with normal garage tools like every other guy. After that come back and give your biased opinion.

That's got to be one of the LAMEST vendor posts EVER !!!

Seriously, just make your damn tubes longer, I had NO problem putting the hoses on my Forge intercooler, they even made the inlet tube longer than the stock one so it was very easy to hook up. They even included tabs to hardmount it like the oem unit.

Don't try & blame the car maker for fitment issues with your aftermarket parts !! They make the car, then you make goodies to fit it. Mini's not going to re-engineer their front end to make your crap fit any more than they're going lessen their tolerances to make your downpipe pass emissions checks. Let's see some v.2.0 products and some v.2.0 customer service.

Hi Herman,
Thanks for the message. "I" HAVE installed all my own parts for all my MINIs in my own garage at home. Me and a buddy installed my cat back exhaust and FMIC in my garage a few months back. I honestly didnt have any serious issues installing either. For my FMIC I did loosen the upper hose clamps on both intercooler hoses for ease of fitment and to move them from left to right a bit. We installed both the intercooler and exhaust in one night....probably five-ish hours from start to finish. Lucky for me the cold side wasnt tooooo hard as I have little hands and skinny arms!! I did use a squirt bottle with some rubbing alcohol to make things slide together easier. After looking back at things....I seriously think THE hardest part of the install was removing/replacing the bumper! PS I was a Motoring Advisor....and can proudly say I was one of the best out there!

If you want to split hairs on what a MA and a car salesman are you go right ahead. We both know it is. Just a churched up name for a car salesman!

As for the Alta products you are defending. The pita with the Alta tubes is not sliding them on with a squirt bottle, but the length of the tube. In other words tooo short! As for the intercooler same problem bad measurements. Tooo short again. If you want to defend products that do not fit properly go right ahead, but anyone that has installed either of these products knows there's quite a bit of room for improvement on your companys part.

Obviously this guy who started this thread wanted some information on this product shot to him straight. I don't think he was looking for some salesman to mislead him on the product or the install of said product. If he wanted that he could of just called you directly for that.

Instead of surfing posts and threads looking to defend inferior products why don't you just fix the problem.

One last thing if you were one of the best MA's you would still be doing it. Rather than arguing with me on here how good you were.

No need to flame me personally Herman. I wasn't arguing with you at all. Please keep this on topic. Furthermore if your hot side pipe is seemingly too short it might be. There was a batch of hot side pipes that came in a bit shorter than we spec'd out. I would be more than happy to exchange it for you if this is indeed the case.

We sent them out (approximately 25ish) and they fit.....but they were difficult to fit. I think (not exactly sure) the were and inch and a half too short. It wasnt until a few weeks after they were out that we received a few calls about specific fitment issues with the hose.

nice/typical Alta quality control there.
and I'm sure you guys pro-actively contacted everyone that received one of these defective hoses & offered a replacement ? From all my experience dealing with Adam & crew, I highly doubt it.
Alta's already burnt many good customers, like myself, and is rapidly torching the last shreds of credibility with mouth pieces like yourself. You'd do better to just stop posting and let this thread drop off the radar instead of keeping everyone fired up. It can't be fun trying to sell half baked products, maybe you can still get your job back as a MA ?

Without product fixes, better QC, and some pro-active customer service, Alta might as well close up shop.

Again, I am forced to write this because you try to sugar coat the problems.

Down shift blame again, they did not fit. I had two sent to me after tons of problems. One was two inches too short and the other over three inches. How can they fit being so short? I can post the pictures if you want. And I had to jump through multiple hoops (including multiple pictures, e-mails, calls) just to be blamed for not knowing how to fit the hose properly. Your customer service is all about blaming the customer (i.e. it is just difficult to fit). Well, you did not look at them before you sent them out, what do you expect. Even after you knew the hoses were too short, you still tried to wrangle your way out of replacing it.

I am happy to say, I am completely de-Altafied.

Ok so as I sit here I am absolutely dumbstruck at what happened today. Well me and my friend got out this afternoon and started to work on the MINI. Everything was going awesome I mean awesome, I heard others saying that it took 4-5hr to complete this project. Well we had taken off the bumper and stock intercooler off in about 20 minutes. Well we were taking a break cause it was like a bazillion degrees here today. So I got to opening up the box and unwrapping the Alta intercooler. Well at the bottom of it there was a huge dent and about 2 to 3 inches away is another smaller dent. Well there is no damage to the box and no damage to the pain considering its of the stealth variety. So, I think that it was dented then painted then shipped were no one saw it or over looked it. I am disappointed cause I wasted the day and I am getting ahold of who I need to cause I am not sure what I want to do.

That sucks, I've been there a number of times, even working on customers cars, but it's the worst when it's your own. Hope the rest of your weekend goes a little smoother.

You wasted your whole afternoon. Imagine if you'd had your dealer do the install. It would've cost as much as a new IC.

So what's Alta had to say about the issue?
