Starter to Flywheel distance?

Hey folks, does anyone know the distance from the engine block starter mount to the ring gear on the flywheel by chance? The bentley doesnt have it, nor does Alldata or mitchel's. I measured 28.5mm all around and 26mm on the distance on the starter to the mount points when disengaged. I am having an issue where the starter is not releasing from the flywheel and thus burning up, I went through 2 starters in troubleshooting. I have the ClutchMasters alum clutch and they are checking from my pix on the ring gear. I am trying to keep from pulling the transmission unless I absolutley have to. I am trying to make it to get tuned next week & that will shut that down. I have a spare engine sitting here at the shop, but no fly wheel to check. depending on what the stock measurements are, I could space the starter out that distance and keep on schedule.

TIA!

Sorry to hear about your starter failures Cole.

Someone has got to have a gearbox off-at the moment-to help you find that dimension. Good luck with the tune!

Myself and my lead tech here at work have been looking for this spec since this thread was posted... unfortunately, we have found nothing.

But, he did say to make sure the transmission and starter dowels are in place, and that you should be able to rock the starter just a tad to open up the clearance.

Hope that helps.
