Define "best"... Longest lasting? Highest performance on the track? Lightest? Best looking? Best value?

For the vast majority of MINI owners, there is no functional difference in rotors... the OEM rotors, or the least expensive ones you can find at the auto parts store, will probably be more than adequate.

As for pads... similar questions apply regarding what's important to you... street performance, track performance, noise, dust... lots of options out there and they all have their fans... I'm a big Carbotech fan these days.

For slotted rotors, I've had good success with the relatively inexpensive Ate Premium One rotors. My use includes very hard mountain driving and a few track days. The slots really don't add any performance with modern brake pads... but they look cool.

I've heard good things about all the brands you listed.... If I were buying new, I might go TSW just because I like their stuff and they high carbon content of their rotors.

thanks herbie i'm replacing my daily driver rotors soon and was wondering.

palomita, the info paul has provided is spot on. i have powerslots for track use, and ate's in the rear...so i have 2 out of the three mentioned. both are great. i'll prolly use ate's or powerslot to replace my daily driver fronts soon.

pads very much depend on what you'll be using them for. good replacements for non track use are carbotech bobcats or hawk hps. some like the ebc green stuff. these are not for the track though. if you're looking for track pads, let us know.
