I just got a CEL yesterday and had it read today. Same p2096 code and I also have the ED Downpipe. Probably have put 3-4000 miles on it since I intalled the DP and never had a problem. No recent changes to anything either. Any ideas why all a sudden this would come up now and not when I first installed it?? and does that mean it could be something else?? Also, does this CEL take anything away from engine power? Thanks

go to an auto parts store and buy the cheapest obd II code reader you can find, and clear it yourself. I found an open box one for 35$. Believe me its well worth the money.

Yes any OBD II reader will erase the cell, some have different features. But any OBD II will work

P2096 is post catalyst fuel trim system too lean bank 1. It is either the post 02 sensor, catalytic converter, or an exhaust leak. Since it is reading a lean condition I would suspect some boost trimming...but not positive. I would call your dealer!

And then the next question, If it is trimming boost, when I erase it, and if it stays erased for awhile, will the engine performance go back to normal mode? These may be questions for the dealer, but I was hoping not to get the dealer involved.
