Drivetrain Just Registered, need to know some info...
Hey, what's up everyone, i'm Brandon. I am a CBR600RR, Nissan 350Z, and Cooper enthusiast. I need to know some info on the Cooper, any want to help? I would like to know the engine code, how much hp to the wheels people are putting down on dynos, how much tq to the wheels on dyno's also. What mods to start out with when I get it. I know first mods should be intake, exhaust, headers, but anything else? Any suggested companies to look at for performance parts? I am in the dark about german, british, euro, anything besides japanese and american. I want to get a lot of power out of it. The weight is 2,678lbs., and the weight distribution is 63/37, so how can I shave off some weight and get the weight distribution more close to each other. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Welcome to MCO. With so many questions, your best bet would be to spend some hours reading threads in the Beneath the Bonnet and Performance Mods forums here at MCO. There is a ton of info here that can help you.
Also, click on the sponsor directory on the left side of the screen and you will find a great list of aftermarket MINI tuners that support this site and offer top-notch gear to MINI enthusiasts!

I agree with YuccaPatrol. Too many and a wide range of questions. People are putting down all types of dyno numbers, and there is a wide range of modifications. Anywhere from changing out the nitrous, to one race team putting an M3 motor in the car and making it rear drive. It all depends on the money you want to spend as well as what you want out of the car. There is a lot of ways to shave weight. Everything from replacing the hood with CF, to ripping out the seats and the headliner. You can go very extreme with this. Do a good search, there is literally tons of information on this site, for nearly everything you are looking for. Good luck.
Did you purchase a Cooper or a Cooper S?

Aloha and welcome to MCO,
Lets assume you are interested in the cooper S not the cooper base model or you would not have mentioned 2678 pounds which is the weight of the cooper S. Therefore the following comments hold true for the MCS.
For the engine code and dyno numbers (183 HP, 162 ft/lbs. torque with pulley and ECU-powerchip) talk to RandyBMC 1-720-841-1002

First mods-Start with the first two and pick and choose- wheels are good.
Alta intake with hose
UUC cat-back exhaust
Milltek exhaust Header
15% reduction pulley
ECU upgrade maybe GIAC chip/Powerchip/Shark injector/ or Evotech-need a good comparison test.
Lighter wheels-16" most versatile
Suspension upgrades- many to choose from, rear swaybar is good.
Stage 1 brake upgrade
Short shifter- B&M is popular
Shift ****-Whalen shift machine is popular
Performance parts companies and tuners-
Try Webbmotorsports
Helix13
MiniMania
Promini
Rspeed
Outmotoring
Stratmosphere
Go through the list of MCO sponsors- many good choices.
Shave weight?
Don't order extra stuff-
No NAV system, No sunroof, No auto AC, No trip computer, No upgraded audio (Harmon Kardon maybe)
No sports package- the stock 17" wheels are very heavy- 48 pounds per corner.
Trim weight- remove the rear seat, Don't add a tower strut bar-frame is rigid enough, consider the quicksilver exhaust at 21 pounds which is 20 pounds lighter than stock.
Replace the rear swaybar with an adjustable tubular 3.5 pound bar from H-sport.
Consider light wheels like SSR Comp R rims 16x6.5 or 16x7- talk to Alex@tirerack for best options.
The weight distribution isn't bad so you don't have to try too hard. Suspension upgrades will help quite a bit as does grippy tires and lighter wheels. Talk to RandyBMC from Webbmotorsports about options.
This should be enough to get you started. Enjoy.

>>...I would like to know the engine code,...
R53 is BMW's internal code for the Mini Cooper S body style and W11 is the internal engine code
R50 is for the Cooper and W10 is for it's engine.
Enjoy.
