I have talked to Ryephile and he said the R56 ECU is the most BITCHY, TOUCHY thing about the car. He is still in amazement of the few guys who have put bigger turbo's
Just curious because I have no idea what you guys are talking about . . . how much $$ are you putting into these cars? Why not just buy a 300 HP sportscar? What is it about the MINI that leads you to put so much $$ into them when there are much more powerful cars on the road?
I don't mean to sound judgemental, I'm really just intrigued at the amount of work and money MINI owners put into their cars.

Part of it is that "dollars per horsepower" isn't the only metric we use to judge stock cars. If it were, we'd probably be driving Subarus. I know a lot of people (myself included) that would much rather drive a 300 hp MINI than a stock 300 hp BMW 135i, even if the cost of the MINI and the mods ended up being more than the 135i.

With my few suspension mods I haven't had anyone hang with me on turns or in traffic. This car is exceptional, and a LITTLE more power can only make it that much better. The ECU is kind of finicky but it should adapt fine to changes like this.

Sure, that's a fair question. Initial cost, vehicle weight, styling are all factors in my decision. I know I could have bought a Subaru WRX or Mitsu Evo, but I don't like the styling. I could have bought a Mustang GT, but I don't care for the cheap interior and handling or size. I could have bought a Honda S2000, but I like to have a little utility, as well as take the kids for a ride once in a while. For me, I really liked the styling of the Mini, the great handling, small, relatively light weight. To make it faster just enhances the overall experience!
True story. For performance minded drivers...tuners, etc. we would tune it no matter what. Max power is always nice, no matter the car.
I seen guys with m6's tune them to be faster. Just imagine the money that goes into that...
Some people think it silly, but many do not.
Completely agreed.... that's why I supercharged a 7000lb Hummer, put a blown big block in an S10, supercharged my C5 Corvette, blah, blah, blah... My Raptor 686 ATV was clocked on radar at 102. My Kawasaki Ultra 150 jetski was clocked on radar at 72.6
It doesn't matter what it is.... there's more to be had. (it's a disease)
