Catback Exhaust for 2005 S Cabrio

Hi All,
I'm looking into a catback exhaust system for my 2005 S Cabrio. Ihave already installed an intake system and 15% pulley and now that I'm getting more air in, I think it's time to make it easier to get out and get a little more aggressive exhaust note to boot. I was very interested in the Invidia, but read that it will not work on the Cabrio because of conflict with extra bracing. I also read that the Borla street version will work for the Cabrio. Anyone out there installed a catback on the S cabrio? What did you install or what would you recommend?

Hello Buzz Buzz and welcome to the forums.

While I haven't done it first hand, I hear all that's required to fit an R53 exhaust on the R52 is to put some washers/spacers between the convertible bracing and the bottom of the car... so the exhaust pipes will clear them.

I'm still running the factory exhaust, minus one muffler, on my convertible S.

After hearing a Magnaflo-equiped Mini recently though, I may be changing that in the future!

The Invidia sounds great as well...

Some companies make a single version that works with both the coupe and the convertible, others make a convertible-specific version (and charge extra for it), and still others don't make a convertible-compatible version at all.

Fortunately, all you have to do is lower the convertible cross-brace about three-quarters of an inch, and then you don't have to worry about it - just get any exhaust system you like. I've done it twice so far (once on a Cooper and once on an 'S') with no problems even several years later.

I dont have a cabrio. I have had the Alta sportone And I now have the Miltek. The Miltek is amazing! I love it. Not to loud, some HP and cool looking tips coupled with a nice warranty

Goodluck and happy modding!
