To me...this debate really comes down to who sells what.

Would one rather have $3,000 Megans....or $3,000 JRZs?

Astro

Forgot your car is an auto. I think you'll be around checker's numbers. The head and cam make a big flow difference. The auto makes it really tough.
Good luck with your choice of parts.

Hey Astro,

sorry your thread has been victim to another NAM pissing contest (though at least now its stateside ).

Anyway, if you have any specific questions feel free to PM me. I may not have much in the way of power mods, but I've been doing quite a bit of research since I've been on here and power mods are coming soon. I'm just the kind of guy that likes to cover the weak spots first before more power is added. Power should always come last IMO.

AMD in England worked with Rotrex and produced the first Rotrex powered Cooper S I think they offered a kit from about 2004 onwards, we took it off a customers car last year and converted it back to an M45.

Yep, AMP made a kit a long time ago using the first Gen Rotrex. I've seen pics of that kit and it really was poorly designed. The first gen Rotrex had lots of issues. The current model (gen 3) is a complete re-design from gen 1 and 2.

When I first approached Jan about building me a Rotrex he wasn't really into it. I kept pushing so he got in touch with Oscar Jackson from Kraftworks. Kraftworks develops Rotrex kits for various cars. They are contracted with Rotrex to develop 3-4 kits a year.

Little background on Oscar:

Oscar was the owner of Jackson Racing for years and is a legend in the Import world. He sold Jackson Racing and retired a few years back. Oscar and his team are arguably the foremost experts on the M45. After being approached by Rotrex and researching the capabilities of this new blower Oscar was blown away (his own words) and came out of retirement to open Kraftworks leaving the M45 behind.

Oscar and his Son came over to Jan's house for a meeting. They explained to Jan all the reasons why the Rotrex was a superior blower to the M45. After the Jackson's left I received a call from a very exited Jan telling me he would take on this project and build me a Rotrex.

The boys at Kraftworks stopped in many times to see how the build was going. They said on many occasions how nice and well thought out the kit was designed.

They came down the day we first started the car and helped put the last few items together. During the early tuning and testing they ran and allowed us to use their Dyno at Skunk2 racing. Oscar was also there the day Jan tuned and pulled 297whp. He was blown away and said we could easily step up to the bigger blower and make even more power. While that is tempting my goal all along was 300whp which was achieved. I was really happy to get 225ftlb's as well. The goal all along was to make more power then the M45 while keeping the car supercharged. Jan did that and a lot more. Turbo wasn't and never will be an option "for me". I bought an S not a T.

In the end Jan and his team built me one hell of an engine .

Longboard

based on your signature you might as well start from scratch because there is very little there that will work with this system. I will ONLY sell the Rotrex in the way it was designed, As a kit, no mix and match of parts.

So whatever loser and a big friendy Philly FU to you.
(Finger ajustment needed!>

Have a great life Mr. Mini Encyclopepeda since you know everything about Mini tuning history, Jan, RMW and and the future of Mini Tuning.

I bet you are also a stupid Mets fan but on second thought since you are a front runner and up on everything that is "in" I bet you are a Yankees fan now.

Rotrex has many Rotrex specific parts that we made for it.

TVS is more likely the way for you to go if you stay supercharged with the parts you have on your car or plan to add based on your sig

OK Jan..thats great news...what's the main difference between the 2 anyways?

- Performance
- Price
- Availability
- Supportability

Oh, and what else do I need (parts wise) for me to install the TVS?
