Drivetrain Ragazzon write up
Ragazzon write up
Well, finally my internet is up. Heres a brief write up on installation of the Ragazzon downpipe ( catless option).
MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS ON THE COLD ENGINE!!!!!!!!
I am omitting the usual exhaust take off and heat shields that are located around the turbocharger ( i honestly forgot to take the photos of them while removing them, sorry ) .
once the exhaust is removed from the original downpipe, undo the 2 bolts that are holding the downpipe on the lower portion of it ( underneath the car )

remove the lower oxygen sensor ( try to follow the cable to the plug and unplug it so it will be easier for you to remove the sensor without crimping the wires ) . proceed to the underhood work. unplug the top oxygen sensor and remove it from the downpipe. now the fun part, remove the heat shields, its attached to the exhaust monifold along the valve cover ( about 3 bolts ) then there are 2 bolts on the radiator side ( these actually keep both shields together ) and then if you get underneath the car again , you will have to locate 4 more bolts that keep the lower shield secure ). once shields are off proceed to soak the "tripod" bolts that hold the downpipe to the turbocharger unit with wd-40. undo one of the nuts from the stud. proceed to the next nut, when you get the other nut unscrewed, dont take it of the stud just yet, take the first nut that you just unscrewed and place it on the stud that you are currently working on, counter tighten it with that nut now, basically what i am asking you to do is to remove all three studs from the turbocharger , it will make your removal and installation of the both downpipes extremely easy.
heres a bonus part: i heard that most of the people complained that ragazzon brackets are not aligned properly, well i found a cheat to that, if you climb under the car again and locate the 2 brackets that hold the downpipe in the lower portion , they can be loosened and have a huge amount of free play , which in fact will allow you to adjust them to the brackets that are located on the downpipe , no matter how messed up they are
once the original downpipe is off, proceed to install the Ragazzon piece.

first place the new pipe so that the bottom bracket holes are sitting over the bolts and then while holding the pipe , align it with the turbocharger, begin installing the studs one by one ( dont forget to install the gasket that located between the turbocharger and downpipe ) . tighten all three nuts on the turbocharger and then tighten the bolts and nuts on the bracket that located in the lower portion of the pipe. reinstall heat shields, then oxygen sensors , and voila.
when mating the exhaust back to the downpipe , try to play around with it so it sits firmly on that conical seat. if you fail to do that, you will have a leak. it needs to sit flush so that the clamp will grab BOTH the downpipe and the exhaust lip !!!!!
