I wish we could get one but americans have huge misconceptions about diesels. Plus the diesel fuel we get over here isn't nearly the same quality you get over in europe.
My daughter has a Jetta TDI (Turbo diesel injected?). The engine is terriffic with great mileage. If that engine were available in the Mini in the States I'd probably trade my S for it. Terriffic mileage, double mine, and pretty good pickup too. I do think the high sulfer fuel we have here is the problem. Plus they make so much torque down low that transmissions must be real strong.
