Drivetrain Supercharger pricing
I've seen them at the dealer for $1600 and on ebay for a lot less. If it is going bad, check out the post about porting it. It looks like they rebuild them and do a port and polish for $895.

I had mine rebuilt by stiegemier, (bad waterpump drive) cost about $600 plus shipping both ways. Very happy with the results, been roughly 10k miles after the rebuild and still sounds/feels great. They can also do a port and polish for an additional cost. Overall it was a very smooth transaction and their turnaround rate was amazing, fixed and shipped out the same day it was received.
Wow! Both to the turnaround time, and to the water pump drive rebuild - so just want to confirm - you had ground up gears on the WP side and stiegemier REPLACED them as part of the rebuild? That would be fantastic news...

I did the removal and installation at a gas station where a friend of mine works and they had very limited space, so the car had to be in and out quickly. I overnighted the supercharger to stiegemier and had it overnighted back (which got rather pricey). They called me when the supercharger arrived and called after they inspected it. They had the parts in stock, fixed the w/p gears, and sent it out same day.
That is truly fantastic news... as the 1st gen MCS's age, there will be a high demand for this service... thank goodness a source of the WP drive gears finally materialized. Thanks for the posts! Makes me a little less paranoid... maybe I won't buy a spare SC to put on the shelf, after all...
While it's good news that WP gears are now available, it's still much cheaper to just get a used unit with good WP gears, unless you're wed to having the original SC. Swap fluid and you're good to go, no?
Its great news that they can now be rebuild - may have to do that w/ the old one. (sometime in the next 150k miles

I contacted Jan about the TVS a few weeks ago. His response indicated most of my current mods would have to be removed if I went with the TVS. Sure doesn't sound like a "bolt on" mod to me.
Care to specify - - I have a 15% pulley, the RMW cam and header, I intend to do the RMW head at some point this year. The head and cam should be compatible with the TVS - however what do you need to remove?
My questions for Jan:
Hi Jan,
Do you have an idea on the cost of the TVS? I'm knee deep in upgrades and the TVS may influence where I go from here.
Currently on MCS: Milltek header/cat, Mangaflow cat back exhaust, GRS intercooler, Alt CAI ver 2, 16% M7 pulley, 380cc JCW injectors.
Adding: Thumper head, RMW cam.
Will the 380cc injectors be overworked after adding head and cam? Will the TVS require larger injectors? After all engine upgrades are done, I plan on getting the holy grail of tunes (drum roll please) the JAN TUNE!
Jan's response:
It all depends on what you are looking for. If you want 300whp much of what you have will have to come back off. 550cc injectors will be needed along with other parts for the TVS kit. This car will have turbo power without all of the lag associated with 300whp in a turbo car
as for 380cc injectors it depends upon how much power the car makes with those parts
Since I have a lot invested in my mods, I really wasn't interested in what I would have to replace.

Question to Jan....
Coming from a bone stock '05 MCS, if I ever wanted to add a Rotrex supercharger, what other mods will I be required to perform or what would you recommend to do as part of adding a Rotrex?
Thanks!
